PACE Juvenile Center

PACE Juvenile Center is the Orchard Place community-based operating division, providing skill building services for a diverse population of youth and families struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
PACE works to enhance the services of mental health professionals, educators and Juvenile Court/Department of Human Services by collaborating with providers and families to alleviate behavioral issues and promote accountability. We offer youth and families the skills to improve functioning and relationships by working as partners with our mental health professionals at the Child Guidance Center and in the community.
Thirty years ago, the juvenile court and Des Moines public schools joined with Orchard Place to serve children who were at risk of dropping out of school and possible incarceration and formed PACE At-Risk Services. Today, we continue to work closely with Des Moines Public Schools with on-site classrooms for youth who struggle with mental health and behavioral challenges and are at risk of academic failure.
PACE also provides Academic Programs to at risk youths each year. These skill-building services are delivered in community settings, including the home and school, to help youth develop and practice skills.
PACE provides Counseling and Treatment Services and alcohol education classes for Iowa youth struggling with alcohol abuse or misuse of other drugs. Assessments, group and individual therapy, and interventions provide alternatives to help stop destructive behavior patterns.
