Mentor

Weekdays, Weekends, Evenings

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check

Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-on-one relationship during this difficult time in their life. As a mentor, you will offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. Mentors play a key role in the success of our kids. The mentor is expected to commit one hour a week, in mutually determined activities. You will gain personal fulfillment by contributing to an individual's life and to the larger community. There is much satisfaction in helping someone mature, progress and achieve goals.

Classroom Assistant

Monday-Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a background check

We need you in the classroom! Your time and commitment to education will help Orchard Place students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Join our teachers anytime during the school period and assist the teachers with various classroom needs. Some of the activities you can expect to do while a classroom assistant are listening to students read or reading to them, working with math flash cards, practicing spelling words or simply assisting the teacher with various projects. These opportunities are available at our Campus location as well as our PACE programs.

Tutor

Monday-Friday 4:00-6:00 pm

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a background check

Play a valuable role in the success of a child by becoming a tutor. Tutors help with more than just homework; they become an important friend to the child. You can tutor at our campus school as well as our PACE programs. These kids have been faced with troubled situations and your assistance will motivate them to work at their full potential. You could be the difference in the academic success of a child. Academic success builds self esteem, which in turn produces success in all aspects of the children's life.

Special Interest Volunteers

Any day of the week and weekends

Do you have a special skill that you would like to share with the children at Orchard Place? We are always open to volunteers that want to share their hobbies and interest with our kids! We can use your special skill to implement new volunteer opportunities for our kids. We can arrange activities such as gardening in our greenhouse, giving music lessons, recreational therapy or teaching your special talent and hobbies to individuals or groups of children.
