Last Friday morning, I experienced, for the first time, what it is like to be on the receiving end of telehealth. The first step was a brief question and answer with a nurse and then onto meeting with my primary care physician. They both did well with navigating the technology, and we were all learning this new technology. Everything went as smoothly as possible. For what was needed last week, the technology was very helpful. I could do it from home and didn’t need to travel to the clinic. I didn’t have to expose myself to the viruses, etc. potentially, that may be there. The appointment worked well and covered very well the areas it needed to cover.
The experience affirmed that telehealth is a useful tool. Many of you have said that you’ve found telehealth to be a valuable tool in the therapeutic toolbox. It will be interesting to see if we can help insurers recognize the value in it and continue to reimburse for it in the future. Telehealth is a helpful technology that can bring people out of isolation and into hope for the future.
Thanks to you all for making the leap to this new technology to help others.
Sanctuary on! Anne
