On October 2, eight representatives from Central and South America visited with Gladys Noll Alvarez, LISW, Trauma Informed Care Project Coordinator, at the Orchard Place Child Guidance Center. The participants represented several disciplines; journalist, HR of a pharmaceutical company, University professor, program director/coordinator, attorneys, and a deputy mayor. The visit was part of an International Visitor Leadership Program that is focusing on ending gender-based violence. The tour was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Members of the group were at Orchard Place to learn more about the Trauma Informed Care Project and the importance to build awareness and services to improve treatment to trauma survivors.
