It's not every day you see 4 Hy-Vee delivery vans pull up, open their doors and start unloading a cast of characters right out of TV and movies. But today at the Orchard Place Child Guidance Center, that's what happened.
If you have shopped at Hy-Vee during the past few months, you may have been asked to contribute to an effort to supply local nonprofits with large ‘walking’ balloons.
Orchard Place staff and clients watched in awe as balloons were ushered in by Hy-Vee employees to fill several areas of the Child Guidance Center. There were smiles all the way around.
I watched as the first balloon was given to a child, who was in amazement about what was going on. And once he made his choice, he was holding on to it.
Thank you to Hy-Vee for helping make a lot of our kids days brighter. Also, if you were one of the many people who contributed to making this possible, thank you! Please know you all made a difference in the lives of Iowa kids today.
