A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the 11th Annual Orchard Place Spelling BEE, held March 6, 2014, at Wooly’s. With the help of generous sponsors, teams, local businesses and community members, we were able to raise more than $70,000 in support of Orchard Place children!

Congrats to our 2014 Spelling Bee Champions - The Cub-BEES!!

This team from Orchard Place’s Child Guidance Center won the competition after the other teams ran out of bribe money and they were able to spell a final word—pococurante
correctly! They also won the award for Most Bribe Money Raised by a Team. Congrats to the champs (from L to R) - Rachel Klobassa, Annie Marchesano, Amy Tiefenthaler, Katherine Zerull, Rickelle Williams and Kristin Rodenberg!

Best Cheering Section - The BEEvarians

Sponsored by Nationwide, this team danced, sang and yodled their way through the competition… rousing their cheering section with each visit to the stage. Team members were Dave Nuemberg, Neal Ebert, Greg Beaumont, Dave Dytko and Charles Branz. The BEEvarians, along with two other teams, brought Nationwide the title of Most Bribe Money Raised by a Company.

Best Team Name - The Kentucky DerBEESRepresenting The Stelter Company, this team ran a solid race and wound up in the Winner’s Circle for Best Team Name. Members were Emily Schrad, Kate Salvner, Jessica Samuelson, Todd Mitchell, Becca Templeton, Amber Zylstra and Greg Schlaefle.

Best Costumes - The Spelling BEEgle and the Peanuts Gang.It was a competitive year in the costume category!  This team from Holmes Murphy managed to capture the Costume Crown with the winning costumes from their company’s Halloween Costume Contest. Congrats to the gang - Michelle Wilson, Karla Radda, Natalie Nguyen, Dan Tye, Jeanne Samame and Dong Dinh.
