In a ceremony at the Iowa Capitol, Governor Terry Branstad today signed a proclamation recognizing June 2017 as Trauma Informed Care Awareness Month.

This proclamation builds public awareness about the scope of trauma, informs the community about adverse child hood experiences and the related effects caused as a result.
The fact that communities who adopted trauma informed practices have decreased community violence, increased graduation rates, increased family stability and increased statewide resiliency is noted in the document.

More than 40 community stakeholders are part of the Orchard Place Trauma Informed Care Project.

The Annual Trauma Informed Care Conference, sponsored by Orchard Place will take place in Des Moines on June 6 & 7.
