Orchard Place receives grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity

(Des Moines, Iowa) – Orchard Place has received a $20,647 grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity to purchase 20 new beds for its residential Campus.

Children, ages 10 to 17, with significant mental health conditions stay on Campus an average of 5.8 months while receiving comprehensive psychiatric care and attending school. They live in homes that are staffed 24 hours a day by mental health specialists.

"A good night's sleep is essential to healing," said Wendy Ingham, Vice President of Development.  "The generosity of Variety - the Children’s Charity made it possible for Orchard Place to purchase fully functional, safe and secure bedroom furniture that is designed to meet the unique needs of the children and adolescents in our residential program.”

Orchard Place is home to Iowa's experts in children's mental health specializing in emotional and behavioral disorders. In 2020, Orchard Place served 7,535 children and adolescents in 32 programs ranging from school-based therapy to residential psychiatric care.
