#GivingTuesday Makes a Difference @ Orchard Place

It is not unusual to receive letters or email from former Orchard Place clients with these five words:

“Orchard Place saved my life.”

These five words are powerful.  They are the result of work we do made possible by your donations.

With your help, we met the needs of more than 10,000 children with mental health and behavioral conditions this year. At Orchard Place, donations are put to use to in multiple ways to serve an ever growing number of children.

Imagine a holiday with no gifts, lack of academic support, a family whose child needs outpatient counseling but they can’t afford the gas to drive to our location, a child arriving at our Campus without the basic supplies for their stay, children who have never been able to attend a summer camp to enjoy just being a kid.  These are more than examples; these are real situations faced by the children of Orchard Place without your support.

#GivingTuesday donations touch countless lives of children, youth and families. We appreciate every dime, and work to make sure support is used as effectively as possible.  Less than 8% is used for management and general expenses making Orchard Place one of the most efficient nonprofits in the area.

You may ask, “What happens if I don’t give?”

Take a look at these current statistics:

20% of youth aged 13 – 18 live with a mental health condition

11% of youth have a mood disorder

10% of youth have a behavior or conduct disorder

8% of youth have an anxiety disorder.

The results of the statistics listed above are:

50% of students age 14 and older with a mental illness drop out of high school

70% of youth in state and local juvenile justice systems have a mental illness

90% of those who died by suicide had an underlying mental illness

These statistics are troubling.  The stories are heart breaking, but Orchard Place provides hope.  Through a wide array of mental health services and supports, Orchard Place can provide the right services at the right time, offering state-of-the-art treatment delivered in multiple settings by 400+ trained professionals.

#GivingTuesday donations are put to use to develop strong futures for the children we serve, and it pays off.  You can support Orchard Place on this #GivingTuesday by contributing at www.orchardplace.org/donate
