Orchard Place Receives $10,000 Grant from the UPS Foundation


DES MOINES, Iowa, August 21, 2014– Orchard Place, mental health experts for Iowa’s children, has received a $10,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS).  The grant will be used by the The Children’s Fund at Orchard Place to help with the emergency needs of children and families served by all Orchard Place divisions.

“This grant is crucial to the children and families of Orchard Place,” said Anne Starr Chief Executive Officer at Orchard Place. “It will enable the children we serve with mental health issues to access and benefit from our services. Funding from organizations like UPS further help us serve more than 9,000 children in Iowa each year.”

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues.  In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following forces areas for giving:  nonprofit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.

In 2011, the UPS Foundation distributed more than $45.3 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as Orchard Place.  And provide support for building stronger communities.
