Volunteer Opportunities

We have all been watching the news of the COVID-19 affecting the world around us. We are slowly starting to allow some in person volunteers on Campus and at our PACE locations.

In an effort to protect the safety of all staff, clients, and visitors effective immediately Orchard Place will be implementing the following strategies:

1. All volunteers will need to complete COVID 19 training and sign the COVID 19 consent form. Most volunteer work will occur outdoors if at all possible. Volunteers will need to bring a clean mask to wear, answer the health questionnaire, wash hands and take your temperature each time you volunteer. If you feel ill, please stay home.

We are  looking for individuals or groups/teams of people to come help out at our Campus or PACE locations. These can be one time options.

If you are interested in volunteering contact Brandie Broadhead at bbroadhead@orchardplace.org

Make School Supply Kits (based on specific supply lists)

Are you more of a hands-on volunteer? You could team up with co-workers, neighbors, and/or your family to purchase the specific school supplies needed and then fill a backpack for each student you’re supporting. Volunteer-made school supply kits need to be assembled off-site and then delivered to Orchard Place no later than August 13 so that kids receive them before the first day of school. Please email Brandie Broadhead, CVA, Orchard Place Director of Volunteers and Special Events to make arrangements to drop off the kits.

The below options require a weekly commitment of an hour.

Weekdays, Weekends, Evenings

All applicants must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check

Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-on-one relationship during this difficult time in their life. As a mentor, you will offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentee. Mentors play a key role in the success of our kids. The mentor is expected to commit one hour a week, in mutually determined activities. You will gain personal fulfillment by contributing to an individual's life and to the larger community. There is much satisfaction in helping someone mature, progress and achieve goals.

Classroom Assistant - Currently on hold

Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a background check

We need you in the classroom! Your time and commitment to education will help Orchard Place students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Join our teachers anytime during the school period and assist the teachers with various classroom needs. Some of the activities you can expect to do while a classroom assistant are listening to students read or reading to them, working with math flash cards, practicing spelling words or simply assisting the teacher with various projects. These opportunities are available at our Campus location as well as our PACE programs.

Special Interest Volunteers - Virtual

Any day of the week and weekends

Do you have a special skill that you would like to share with the children at Orchard Place? We are always open to virtual volunteers that want to share their hobbies and interest with our kids! We can use your special skill to implement new volunteer opportunities for our kids. We can arrange activities such as gardening in our greenhouse, giving music lessons, recreational therapy or teaching your special talent and hobbies to individuals or groups of children.
